Daniel Bennett is an experienced, multi award winning urban designer and registered landscape architect with over 17 years experience working across Australia, the United Kingdom and China.
Daniel has recently completing leading the urban design team for the Sydney Light Rail project for Transport for NSW and the Feasibility Study for Canberra’s Capital Metro light rail project. He was also the Principal Landscape Architect and Urban Designer on the national award winning Gallipoli Underpass in inner city Adelaide. All of these projects focus on developing the broader benefits of city shaping through essential infrastructure construction.
He is National Councillor and Vice President of AILA, actively progressing the profession of landscape architecture, urban design and city shaping both locally and nationally.
He is an independent member of the South Australian Government’s Capital City Design Review Panel as well as an independent member of the Adelaide Hills Development Assessment Panel and is a regular contributor for Adelaide’s independent newspaper online, the InDaily, as well as a member of its Design Panel.
Over the years Daniel has learnt to adopt a strong and leading advisory role on integration of ideas, thought and pragmatism across many areas of work from urban policy to detailed landscape architecture. Daniel’s pragmatic and analytical skills often enable a broad and comprehensive appreciation of a place – the importance of context and landscape in large projects.
His strong creative and innovative approach to design, often working in large teams, has the ability to rise above the normal to explore the opportunities and examine divergent ideas and thinking. Despite being a born and bred Sydneysider, he loves his adopted city of Adelaide. He is married with three young children, and lives in the lower Adelaide Hills.
